Anxiety is a mental health condition that is reaching epidemic proportions in Perth and elsewhere, with ever younger children now being diagnosed with Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD). While we all will naturally experience anxiety as a consequence of facing a real or perceived threat in our lives at some stage, this natural anxiety resolves itself and we resume a natural resting state of ease.
Our Anxiety workshop in Perth is for those who find they do not return to a state of ease but somehow have an ongoing state of Anxiety running their life. We will assist attendees in understanding the triggers and process of anxiety creation in ourself, and why some people find they live more or less in an anxious state.
We look at how anxiety tends to affect sufferers over time. We then look at what strategies you can adopt to address the symptoms and actual anxiety itself. These strategies target both the mind and the body as each has an anxiety response state that can be the subject of an intervention.
We will illustrate techniques that address issues such as:
- Getting to sleep
- Waking from sleep
- Impulses to run or panic
- Racing thoughts
- Panic attacks
- Muscular reactions and tensions
- Digital hyper-stimulation
- Confronting fears
- Role of breathing
- Why and how to get grounded in present time
We will show how anxiety can have links to depression and how your nervous system facilitates both conditions based on past tendencies and defences.
Body Psychotherapy treats anxiety as a body mind condition that can respond well to non-drug interventions via a cognitive (mind) and a somatic (body) approach. This neuro-science informed workshop explains how trauma can activate anxiety as a secondary issue to the primary trauma.
We also will reveal the common issues that create the basis for anxiety formation and how best these issues may be handled to resolve the anxiety linked to that issue.
