Anger Management Perth
Anger is something everyone has experienced and it is an essential part of the human emotional spectrum. It’s normal to have moments in life where anger makes us do things we later regret. These moments are generally few and far between, but when they become “the norm” then there is a problem.
What is Anger
Anger is normally characterised as a defence mechanism against a perceived emotional or physical threat. There are 2 types of anger, justified and unjustified.
Justified – is felt in an emotional “fight or flight” situation and once the moment is over the outburst dissipates. This is common and is no cause for concern as it’s appropriate and non-destructive.
Unjustified – is self-destructive in nature and is ongoing and all-consuming. This kind of anger can result in the physical or emotional harm to others or oneself.
Children in our society are often brought up to not express an emotional response as it’s seen as negative. Society is causing people to develop into adults who have not learnt how to use their anger response in a “positive” or “appropriate” way.

Getting Angry and Losing Control
There are situations in life where it’s actually ok to get angry or to feel angry. Examples of this may include slamming a door during a fight with your partner, or raising your voice at your child when they do something they are not meant to do. This is known as justified anger because no one was hurt in the outburst of emotion. However, if you were to then act dangerously and aggressively towards your family member, the situation has escalated into unjustified anger.

Perth Anger Management – What’s Involved
People who experience anger can sometimes develop a fear of expressing it. This can cause the person to “hold in” their anger until they explode in an unhealthy way. When this happens it reinforces the notion that it is bad and out of control.
Anger management counselling helps you own your anger and express it in an authentic and embodied way. You will learn to reclaim and transform it into life-affirming positive anger. This will strengthen your boundary setting capabilities. Through treatment, a therapist can help you adopt effective and essential leadership traits.
As you learn to be safe with your own anger, you will feel safe with yourself and others. This goes way beyond managing your anger to transforming anger into something healthy. Additionally, we will teach you anger management techniques and new ways to perceive and react to outside events and triggers. The intention behind this is to make sure anger isn’t an automatic “go-to” response. Our Anger Management Courses can help you gain healthy control over your anger.
